The Suncatcher is an eye-catcher. A 2010 design by the artist duo Maree Blok and Bas Lugthart for the energy-efficient De Keen district. On top of the long slanted column is a human sculpture that holds a large solar panel above its head with both arms. With this solar panel, the figure collects the solar energy during the day. When evening falls, the human figure begins to light up and radiates energy again in the dark. The longer the sun shines during the day, the longer the glow-in-the-dark effect lasts. Read more
