This statue from 1974 symbolizes the place where the former church villages of Etten and Leur were built together. The steel statue was made by Kees Keijzer (1927-1990). It was a tribute to the former aldermen Leon de Bruijn from 'Etten' and Jos Luijkx 'van de Leur'. The sculptor gave it the name 'Two in conversation' at the time, but because it was always called 'the two aldermen' in popular speech, this also became the official name in 1978 (when the two aldermen left.
