Artist Kees Keijzer (1927-1990) was inspired by the Pegasus from Greek mythology with this sculpture. It depicts the rapid post-war growth and development of Etten-Leur. From an indeterminate mass that breaks open, a kind of column turns upwards, taking the form of a horse. The horse flies to its freedom. The statue, composed of sheets of steel welded together, was unveiled in 1970, but then stood in a different place: a little further on the forecourt of the then De Nobelaer theatre.
